PANAJI: Goa got another tourist attraction with the launch of the luxury vessel M V Lexicon at the captain of ports jetty on Saturday evening. The three deck vessel is owned by SNS Cruiseline (a part of SNS Marine Group ) and has been built locally at Vijay Marine Shipyards, director SNS Marine Group N K Basak said.
The Mumbai-based company runs marine training institutions and provides logistics and vessel management solutions. M V Lexicon will be permanently manned by 12 crew members. It has a total of three decks including the rooftop. The vessel can comfortably accommodate 580 guests and has four separate halls for weddings, business conferences, seminars and birthday parties.
“It is a private initiative and is aimed at tourists as well as for private functions like parties, seminars and conferences. We have done a market study and we found that there is a lot of demand for such activities all over the western coast. People are dying for high profile entertainment,” Basak said.
The company has already tied up with some of Goa’s resorts for wedding cruise packages and is currently in talks with the government to host parties for the International film festival of India. It is designed as per the yacht class, but, has been registered under the Goa inland vessel class. “The vessel will travel out to sea or up river. It depends on where the client wants to go, but, the operations will be limited to Goan waters,” Basak said. Tnn
